Our Vision

We believe in growing diversity among the scientific community. Not only should everyone have access to complex biological and medical knowledge but also be able to understand and translate it to everyday life.

LEAS LAB aims to extend the availability of resources and teaching to provide ALL students no matter their social or academic background, with the opportunity to study and perform advanced scientific and medical methods.

Our goal is to inspire interest in career pathways in science, technology, and medical fields, and to empower our students by making complicated molecular techniques more relatable.

Our Mission

LEAS LAB’s ongoing mission is recruitment, mentorship, and retention of populations underrepresented in science and medical research. We aim to nurture and develop hands-on science education for students pursuing post-secondary, associate's and Bachelor’s degrees by providing curricula, materials, professional development, and innovative teaching approaches specifically designed for those interested in the health professions and careers in biotechnology/molecular biology. LEAS LAB allows students to participate in laboratory exercises and medical training scenarios that offer low cost, experiential lessons from professionals in the science and medical fields. Students perform and analyze biomedical analyses related to a specific disease. This exposes them to multiple potential jobs and careers in the medical and biomedical fields.

Students are provided with lab equipment and instructional support as they work through a clinical case from “Bedside - Bench - Bedside.” Our students are immersed in a safe and comfortable learning experience that allows them to fully explore and absorb invaluable techniques and concepts that position the students for success in subsequent professional engagements.

The diverse backgrounds of our instructors, combined with their passion and expertise in science and medicine allow us to engage with and train future scientists and clinical staff from communities unrepresented in the sciences. Graduates of our course, armed with a solid foundation in research methods, can confidently apply for and secure positions in laboratory and clinical settings lab and clinical work.

Challenge yourself, you never know where you may end up!
